What is ASMR?

ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response. It describes a tingling sensation that usually begins on the scalp and moves down the back of the neck and spine. People who experience ASMR often describe it as pleasurable and relaxing, sometimes even leading to feelings of euphoria.

Here's a breakdown of ASMR:

  • The sensation: A tingling, static-like feeling, similar to goosebumps but often described as more pleasant.
  • The triggers: Specific sights and sounds can trigger ASMR. Common triggers include whispering, tapping, crinkling paper, soft spoken voices, personal attention, and slow movements.
  • The experience: Many people find ASMR relaxing and helpful for reducing stress and falling asleep.

Not everyone experiences ASMR, but it's a common phenomenon!
